Striking Under Occupation
In spring 1941, two strikes shook the Liège area and then the north of France one after the other. Nearly 200,000 workers and miners, pushed to the brink because of unbearable living and working conditions under occupation, dare to defy their occupiers. This social movement, unimaginable in this context, had dramatic consequences that history has been keeping quiet.
